Francois-Xavier Fauvelle is a member of France’s Collège de France and a leading historian and archeologist of ancient and medieval Africa with over a dozen books on the topic, including the award-winning The Golden Rhinoceros: Histories of the African Middle Ages. He is the Visiting Class of 1932 Fellow in the Humanities Council and the Department of Comparative Literature (Spring 2020).
