Jonathan S. Martin is a PhD candidate in the German Department in his first year. He received his BA in German, Medieval Studies, and Classics from the University of Michigan in 2010 and an MA in Medieval and Renaissance Studies from the University Freiburg, Germany, in 2012. His research interests are centered around medieval German literature and culture, with a special interest in medieval law and literature. Other interests include cultural transfer and multilingualism, the boundary between historical and fictional writing in the Middle Ages, and the medieval reception of classical antiquity.
